How to Establish an Endowed Fund

Donors use various assets to establish endowment funds, including gifts of cash, appreciated securities and bonds, or deferred gifts such as charitable trusts, life insurance, retirement fund proceeds and bequests.

The Office of Institutional Advancement assists each donor in making a financial arrangement with the College to establish the endowment fund. A signed agreement between the donor and The College of Saint Rose ensures the administration of the fund in perpetuity according to the donor’s wishes.

The College of Saint Rose offers the following opportunities for establishing named endowed funds with gifts ranging from $10,000 to $1.5 million.  Types of Endowed Funds

THE STEPS TO ESTABLISHING A ENDOWED FUND ARE SIMPLE:

- A DESIRE TO HELP AN ASPIRING STUDENT ATTEND THE COLLEGE OF SAINT ROSE;

-DETERMINING THE MOST TAX-WISE GIVING ARRANGEMENT TO FUND THE SCHOLARSHIP;

- CRAFTING CRITERIA WITH SPECIAL MEANING FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY (i.e. CHOOSING A CERTAIN MAJOR OR ACADEMIC PROGRAM).

THANK YOU, MR. BARLOW

I have had four years to come up with the perfect gift to give to you upon my graduation. However, try as I might, the truth is any material object would seem trivial in comparison to what you have done for me. You have given me the gift of education, knowledge and purpose. Not only have you affected my life, but by providing me the opportunity to become a teacher, your generosity will touch classrooms of students for decades to come.

Thus, I hope you will consider this the first installment of my gratitude. For, just as your gift is ongoing, it seems only fitting that mine should be too. As I go on to complete my master's degree, get a job, a classroom and eager little students of my very own, I will continue to write you a letter every step of the way.

Though I am sad my undergraduate career is ending, I am excited for what lies ahead...a future you have helped to create.

With my sincerest thanks and appreciation.
