THANK YOU, MR. BARLOW

I have had four years to come up with the perfect gift to give to you upon my graduation. However, try as I might, the truth is any material object would seem trivial in comparison to what you have done for me. You have given me the gift of education, knowledge and purpose. Not only have you affected my life, but by providing me the opportunity to become a teacher, your generosity will touch classrooms of students for decades to come.

Thus, I hope you will consider this the first installment of my gratitude. For, just as your gift is ongoing, it seems only fitting that mine should be too. As I go on to complete my master's degree, get a job, a classroom and eager little students of my very own, I will continue to write you a letter every step of the way.

Though I am sad my undergraduate career is ending, I am excited for what lies ahead...a future you have helped to create.
