A major gift from nine Capital Region leaders and supporters of the College honors President R. Mark Sullivan and his wife Kathleen with a new athletic field at the Joe Plumeri Sports Complex. “This gift is a testament to Mark Sullivan’s visionary and gifted leadership. For my family and the other donors, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to name for two such dedicated individuals a playing field that will be enjoyed by Saint Rose students and the Albany community. We take great pleasure in honoring Mark and Kathy by helping to make real the College’s long-held dream of home field advantage,” said I. Laurie & Jason Gutheil Practice Field

Women’s soccer has been an integral part of The College of Saint Rose since its inception in 1986 and we have witnessed incredible growth and accomplishments in the program over the past 23 seasons. Women’s soccer coach Laurie Darling Gutheil is fully committed to Saint Rose soccer and she has inspired hundreds of student-athletes to excel in their sport, in their education and most importantly in themselves over the past 13 seasons. Laurie became the program’s fourth head coach in 1996 and has compiled a 166-76-16 record, including 6 NCAA Division II post-season appearances during this decade, with her teams winning over 70% of their contests! Saint Rose women’s soccer has become recognized and respected on the regional and national level and we are thrilled that our program now has a home facility to showcase our teams’ talents.

“This is a grand slam for all: neighborhood kids, Saint Rose and this city. We should build monuments to the things we believe in, and this is a fantastic investment that will improve the life of this community for years to come and celebrate the dreams and potential of Albany’s youth,” Joe Plumeri.
