Graduate School Application Requirements

First Submit Online Application

  • Submit Online application.
    • If you experience any difficulty with submitting your online application, please call us at 518.454.5144 or grad@strose.edu.
    • All uploaded documents MUST be in .PDF, .DOC or .DOCX formats ONLY.
    • The online application should be submitted with:
      • Statement of Purpose (approximately 300 words)— An effective Statement of Purpose will provide faculty reviewers with an understanding of the applicant’s objectives and motivation for pursuing a graduate degree or certificate. It will also describe how the program of study will meet the candidate’s personal goals for professional development.
      • Resume— A current resume is required for all programs.
      • Unofficial Transcripts— eg. electronic copies of official transcripts issued by institutions of higher education.
      • Certification/Licensure Documentation — eg. state licensure examination results, copies of certifications.

Then Submit Official Transcript(s)

  • Submit Official Transcript(s)
    • Official transcript(s) from all colleges attended must be submitted. You may send these electronically or by mail to Central Processing. If submitting electronically, please email documents to the Central Processing team at centralprocessing@strose.edu.

  • Letters of Recommendation
    • Recommendations submitted from individuals in an academic or professional setting.
    • Recommenders can be invited by you to submit their recommendation letter through with our online application or they can submit directly to graduate admissions.
    • Letters can be submitted by your recommenders by mail, fax (518.458.5479) or email (centralprocessing@strose.edu).

International Applicants

Along with the general admissions requirements, please review the following requirements.

  • Proof of English Proficiency (international applicants only)
    • International applicants must present evidence of proficiency in oral and written English by obtaining satisfactory scores on either Duolingo, the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE exam:
      • The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language, https://www.ets.org/toefl) requirement for Saint Rose is 80 on the iBT version of the test. Applicants should request official score reports to be sent to the Graduate Admission Office. Saint Rose CEEB Code: 002091
      • The IELTS (International English Language Testing System, https://www.ielts.org), requirement is 6.0. Applicants should request official score reports to be sent to The College of Saint Rose, Graduate Admission Office, 432 Western Avenue, Albany, NY 12203.
      • The PTE (Pearson Test of English, http://pearsonpte.com) requirement is 56. The PTE requires that The College of Saint Rose check scores electronically. To do this, you must list The College of Saint Rose as a score recipient. Please follow the instructions here to do this.
      • The testing requirement is waived for applicants who have previously earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the United States.
  • Visa Documents— eg. passports, financial verification documents.
