BUS 494 Internship

Internship Application Process

The semester prior to your internship experience, fill out and submit the internship application and your resume to Maria Pidgeon, Director of Internships & Field Studies. The Director will work with you to complete internship placement. Once you are placed with a company you will then be required to submit a learning contract signed by you and your site supervisor. When the placement process is completed you will then be registered.

A Learning Contract is a 2-4 page document that describes the intern’s job role, responsibilities, duties, and learning objectives (academic skills, personal development skills, career development skills, and professional development skills) for the internship experience. The contract represents an agreement between the intern, the site supervisor and the faculty sponsor.

Prerequisites: BUS 210, BUS 246, BUS 493

To earn the required three (3) credits for your internship you will have to:

- Fill out the Internship Application Form and submit it to the Director of Internships with your resume
- Work with the Director of Internships and the Chamber on your internship placement
- Submit a Learning Contract prior to the start of your internship
- Register for BUS 494 via Director of Internships
- Attend the opening session in the beginning of the semester
- Attend a session on Resume Critique and Mock Interviews at the College of Saint Rose Career Center (dates to be determined at the - beginning of the semester)
- Attend three (3) Chamber networking events
- Work a minimum of 100 hours, plus 20 hours for events, seminars, journal entries and end of semester report.
- Keep a daily journal of work experiences
- Participate in the mid-semester employer evaluation, and interview if needed with program coordinator(s)
- Receive mid and final Employer Evaluations
- Complete the Defense Report
- Give a presentation about your experience at the closing session (date determined at beginning of semester

Beginning in 1994, the School of Business initiated a formal partnership with the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce . The partnership was developed to elevate the quality and provide consistency across the work experience.
