Welcome to The College of Saint Rose Music Department

So, you want to major in music. Great! At The College of Saint Rose we have been working with students like you for almost 90 years. Since the founding of our College in 1920, our Music Department has been preparing students for a variety of careers in music while providing them with a well-rounded liberal arts education. Our graduates use their Saint Rose education as a springboard to employment in music education, music performance, audio and video production, arts administration and entertainment law.

There are more than 200 undergraduate and 40 graduate music majors in The College of Saint Rose Music Department. Our 40 music faculty members are recognized for excellence in teaching, performance, and research. Within their disciplines they are leaders in our community, region, and across the United States. With a low student to faculty ratio, our Music Department provides personal attention with small classes and excellent private applied instruction.

Blending the rigors of a traditional conservatory-style music education with the benefits of studying at a strong liberal arts college, The Saint Rose Music Department offers students a thorough music education in a real-world context. Located in Albany, the capital of New York State, our urban location offers our students abundant opportunities to perform and hear many types of great music in a variety of settings. Its close proximity to New York City, Boston and Montreal make Albany, NY an excellent vantage point to prepare for a career in music.

Saint Rose music students are a constant presence in local classrooms, reaching out to the next generation of musicians through music education. Our music students are also very visible on the Albany music scene with performances on-campus and in many local music clubs.

The Massry Center for the Arts is the new home of the Saint Rose Music Department. This incredibly beautiful, state-of-the-art building provides our music majors with everything they need to receive the finest education possible. The brand new Saint Rose Center for Communications and Interactive Media houses our Music Industry Program. Here you will find our main recording studio, MIDI lab and mixing rooms.

I hope you enjoy your cyber-visit to our Music Department. Please visit us soon-we look even better in-person!

Sincerely,

Paul Evoskevich
