Professor Keith Haynes received his Ph. D. from Northern Illinois University in 1981, where he taught Latin American history as a Visiting Assistant Professor for a year before accepting a one-year position at The University of Vermont in Burlington. Since his arrival at The College of Saint Rose in 1985, he has taught introductory level courses on Latin American and US diplomatic history and advanced classes on the history of US-Latin American relations, Central America and the Caribbean, and Mexico, on which topics he has authored various scholarly articles. He is co-author with Professor Benjamin Keen of a best-selling college textbook, A History of Latin America, published by Houghton-Mifflin. Professor Haynes is a member of the Latin American Studies Association and the Conference on Latin American History. From 2002 to 2005 he chaired the CLAH Teaching Committee and served as a regional book review editor for H-LATAM, the on-line discussion list for scholars of Latin American history and culture.
