Mission Statement

The Office of Global and Domestic Studies supports The College of Saint Rose community with a dual mission. First, to offer foreign and domestic study as an essential part of the educational experience, preparing students and faculty to meet the challenge and potential of a global society; and second, to coordinate support services and programs for international students and scholars participating in the Saint Rose campus community. To fulfill its mission, the Office of Global and Domestic Studies cultivates a climate of openness that embraces diversity in all of its many forms.

International Students

The Office of Global and Domestic Studies coordinates activities and programs for international students and for those students preparing for study abroad. The office assists international students with linguistic, cultural, educational or personal adjustments they may be called upon to make.

In addition to offering academic and social support to international students, the Office of Global and Domestic Studies is an on-campus resource for information regarding F-1 visa status. Also, the Office works closely with scholars studying here as Fulbright Language Teaching Assistants, Fulbright Scholars and Muskie Fellows.

The F-1 Visa permits a foreign student to enter the U.S. for the primary purpose of studying. A student meets the requirements of eligibility by gaining admission to a school which has been SEVIS approved by the Department of Homeland Security, provides a financial guarantee by providing proof of financial support, and meets all required academic standards and English proficiency as required by the school. A valid visa is required to enter our borders, and once a student is in the U.S., s/he must maintain legal status by complying with F-1 regulations.

Study Abroad Opportunties

The College of Saint Rose is affiliated with Borderlinks; the Center for Cross-Cultural Study; the College Consortium for International Studies; Regent’s College, London, England; and University College, Cork, Ireland. Through these institutions, students may study and earn college credits in: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Peru, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Spain, and Switzerland. While tuition and fees normally will cover most costs, some programs entail a tuition surcharge. Students should consult with their academic advisors early in their academic careers to identify which programs best fit their education goals.

Study abroad opportunities are available for one semester, two semesters, faculty sponsored short-term trips, and summer sessions. Students participating in College affiliated programs will be charged The College of Saint Rose tuition and a study abroad fee rather than the cost indicated in the program’s materials If the host study abroad tuition or room and board cost is higher than The College of Saint Rose, the student will pay the higher fee.
