Charter

The College of Saint Rose, sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet, Albany Province, is chartered by the Board of Regents of New York State. All of its degrees and programs are registered and its professional programs fully approved by the Board of Regents through the New York State Education Department.

Accreditation Ensures Quality

Accreditation ensures that education provided by institutions of higher education meets acceptable levels of quality. Accrediting agencies develop evaluation criteria and conduct peer evaluations to assess whether or not those criteria are met. The U.S. Secretary of Education recognizes accrediting agencies that the Secretary determines to be reliable authorities as to the quality of education or training provided by the institutions of higher education and the higher education programs they accredit. There are two basic types of educational accreditation, institutional referring to an entire institution, and specialized or programmatic referring to the evaluation of programs, departments, or schools which usually are parts of a total collegiate or other postsecondary institution.

Institutional Accreditation

The College of Saint Rose is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104. (267-284-5000) The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Specialized Accreditation

The School of Business at The College of Saint Rose, inclusive of its degree programs at the bachelor’s and master’s level, is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs; the Communication Sciences and Disorders program at the master’s level is accredited by The Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology ; the Department of Art and Design at The College of Saint Rose is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design; the Department of Music at The College of Saint Rose is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music; programs offered by The College of Saint Rose for the preparation of all school professionals, leading to initial and advanced certifications, are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the master’s level School Psychology Program at The College of Saint Rose is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists, a specialized professional association of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), ; and the bachelor’s program in Social Work is accredited by the Council for Social Work Education, a specialized accrediting agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. These specialized accrediting agencies are recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Association.
