Project TREE-T

Teacher Resources in Environmental Education and Technology

The goal of Project TREE-T is to provide local K-12 students and teachers with hands-on experiences that promote an understanding of the environment and environmental issues.

Programs consist of a mixture of classroom activities and trips to local habitats conducted by Saint Rose faculty, students, and volunteers. Students are introduced to scientific principals, engage in scientific inquiry, gather data, and draw conclusions. The project promotes an increased interest in the environment, real world environmental problems, and the science necessary to address those issues.

For teachers the project promotes awareness of the local environmental centers and sites that can be easily accessed and readily incorporated into science classes. It provides teachers with methods of integrating knowledge, techniques, and methods from multiple scientific disciplines that can be applied to local field settings. With this preparation, teachers can provide similar experiences for their future classes.

Project TREE-T is managed by The College of Saint Rose Institute for Mathematics and Science Education with assistance from The Albany Pine Bush, The Audubon Society, and the Environmental Clearinghouse of Schenectady. The project is supported by a grant from General Electric.
