Professional Development for K-6 Teachers

P.S.12 - Troy, NY

In 2008 and 2009, The College of Saint Rose was involved with a program to provide support for the implementation of the National Science Resources Center (NSRC) hands-on science program in the Troy School District.

The NSRC program is divided into 24 units covering life, earth, and physical sciences and technology. The program involves hands-on activities designed to foster critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Supported by a grant from the RGK Foundation, the College conducted a series of professional development sessions for elementary school teachers in P.S.12 to enhance their knowledge and understanding of topics covered by the NSRC program. In addition, a variety of science equipment was purchased, to support a science resource center for P.S. 12.
