Thursday, September 25, 2008, at 7 pm in the Saint Joseph Hall Auditorium

IMAGE TITLEEconomic inequality in the United States has reached levels not seen since 1928, on the eve of the Great Depression. At the same time, the American labor movement – once heralded as the “countervailing power” to large corporations – has shrunk from nearly 40 percent of the private workforce in 1955 to about 7.4 percent today. Dr. Pope addressed the role of the Constitution and the Supreme Court in creating this situation and – potentially – in reversing it.
