Art & Design Faculty Exhibition Opens at Esther Massry Gallery

The Esther Massry Gallery at The College of Saint Rose presents an exhibition of varied media by the artists and educators who serve on the Saint Rose art and design faculty. “The Art and Design Faculty Show” opens Friday, June 4, with a reception from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the gallery, located in the Massry Center for the Arts, 1002 Madison Ave., Albany. The exhibit will continue on view through Friday, September 3.

2010 Art & Design Faculty Show 

The exhibition presents works by the artists/teachers who serve the College’s art majors. The art department consists of 17 full-time faculty teaching in three major areas: art education, graphic design and studio art. Exhibiting artists are: Karene Faul, Jennifer Childress, Ann Breaznell, Andrea Kohl, Jessica Loy, Scott Brodie, Ben Schwab, Deborah Zlotsky, Paul Mauren, Rob O’Neil , Gina Occhiogrosso, Bill Bergman, Marian Chilson, Brian Cirmo, Chris DeMarco, Abraham Ferraro, Jeanne Flanagan, Kris Corso Tolmie, Matt Peebles, Ken Ragsdale and Claire Sherwood.

The Saint Rose art department was established in 1970 with the art education program. Studio art and graphic design were added in the mid-’70s. In 1977, the art department was relocated from the Saint Rose main campus to Picotte Hall, a 30,000 square foot facility on State Street in the heart of Albany's historic Center Square neighborhood. A faculty of 32 artists and art historians currently serve more than 200 students annually. The art department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and offers bachelor of fine arts and bachelor of science degree programs.

Summer Gallery Hours:

Open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday noon-4 p.m.

Closed Saturdays, July 4, month of August; re-opening Wednesday, September 1.

Open First Fridays, June 4, and September 3, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
