Experienced Adult Program
Through the Experienced Adult Program, we help adult students like
you translate their learning experiences into the college credits
they deserve.
We understand that some of lifes greatest lessons are learned
outside of the classroom. Thats why we initiated the Experienced
Adult Program (EAP) in 1971. Through this program, we help adult
students like you translate their learning experiences into the
college credits they deserve. You dont have to put your dream
of a college degree on hold any longer. Our Experienced Adult Program
gives you the head start you need to make your dream a reality.
Beginning the EAP Process
To turn your learning into credits, you must first meet with an
Adult and Continuing Education counselor. In that interview, you
will discuss your experiences and your goals in order to determine
if you are eligible for EAP credit.
Knowledge = Credit
In order to earn EAP credit, you must prepare a portfolio outlining
your learning experiences and how they can be applied to your Saint
Rose degree. In your EAP portfolio, you can cite learning you may
have gained through career, volunteer work, noncredit seminars,
military service, independent reading and hobbies.
Portfolio Workshop
With the help of your advisor, the free portfolio workshop and an
optional one-credit portfolio writing course, you can develop a
portfolio that reflects the many things you have learned through
your life experiences. When completed, your portfolio is reviewed
by Saint Rose evaluators and the appropriate credits are awarded
to you. An evaluation fee is payable at the time of portfolio submission.
Saint Rose credits are granted for the college-level learning,
not for the actual experience. For example, working with microcomputers
for five years might earn you portfolio credit for your understanding
of the theory and principles of microcomputers and their applications.
However, the credit is based on your knowledge, not on the number
of years you have worked with microcomputers.
Through a combination of transfer credit and an EAP portfolio,
you may earn up to 92 credits toward the 122 credits required for
an undergraduate degree at The College of Saint Rose.
Degree Programs
You may apply EAP portfolio credit toward any of the 35 academic
programs offered at Saint Rose. Attend our day, evening or weekend
classes, full- or part-time! EAP credit can be applied toward electives,
major or liberal arts requirements. The following seven degree programs
are offered entirely through Adult and Continuing Education evening
and weekend courses:
Accounting
(B.S.) Business
Administration (B.S.) with concentrations in: Management of Human
Resources, Finance, Financial Planning, Information Technology Management,
Marketing, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Sport Management, Managerial

or Interdisciplinary Concentration

Dont Miss this Opportunity
Whether youre busy with a career, a family or both, you dont
have to give up the dream of earning your college degree. Through
the Experienced Adult Program, youll receive all the support
and personal attention you need to reach your goals. Let The College
of Saint Rose put success into your hands.
Did you know?
Saint Rose adult students are enrolled in 28 of our 39 majors and
many of them take an average of two courses each semester.
Through the Experienced
Adult Program at The College of Saint Rose, I earned 15 credits
toward my accounting degree. The support from the Office of Adult
and Continuing Education, the instruction of the English Department
and the guidance of my academic advisor enabled me to write a portfolio
and helped me to organize and direct my college and career goals.
I recommend this program for anyone committed to continuing his
or her education with the prospect of gaining college credit for
learning through experience.
