9 am–Noon
This hands-on activity based class is designed for students interested
in the rock ‘n’ roll movement. See how the rock scene
evolved from the sounds of the 1950’s, the hot rod 60’s,
the psychedelic 70’s, girl-band and big hair 80’s to
the punk, grunge, and alternative rock of the 90’s and today.
Multi-Instrumental Improvisation:
9 am–Noon
This class is designed for musicians who are interested in collaborative
musicianship and improvisation. They will experience a variety of
styles and learn to play in different combinations of instruments
while learning to listen to and respond to what the other musicians
are playing. Students need to supply their own instruments. This
class is recommended for students with a NYSSMA level of 3 or higher,
or at least three years of instrumental instruction. |

Song Architecture
& Construction: 1–4 pm
If you've ever wanted to learn to play, sing,
or write your own songs, then this is the class for you. Bring recordings
of songs you enjoy, and we'll study how they are put together and
use what we learn to create our own music using scales, chord progressions
and rhythmic patterns.
Pop
Singer Boot Camp:
1–4 pm
Beyonce. Timberlake. Aguilera. You. Students
will learn the techniques of healthy pop singing, emphasizing vocal
protection and maximum production. With an emphasis on “selling
the song” and pop icon analysis, the workshop culminates in
a private juried performance.
