Financial Planning Certificate

The role of the financial planner is to help individuals meet their life goals through proper management of financial resources. These professionals can be found working in banks, insurance companies, credit unions, human resource departments, financial consulting companies and private practice.

The Program
The curriculum is designed to provide students with a quality financial planning program that fulfills the educational requirements to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination. The program’s comprehensive approach to financial planning includes study of income tax management, employee benefits, retirement planning, insurance, estate planning and investment.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Payment must be received in full at the time of registration. If you are participating in our Employer Deferment option, I must receive all completed paperwork at the time of registration. The College of Saint Rose accepts payment by check, MasterCard or Visa. Coursework
The Saint Rose Financial Planning Certificate program consists of six semester-long noncredit courses. All courses will include CFP® Certification Examination style questions to familiarize students with the concepts of personal financial planning.

  • FPC301 Fundamentals of Financial Planning
  • FPC302 Insurance Planning
  • FPC303 Investment Planning
  • FPC304 Personal Income Tax Planning
  • FPC305 Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits
  • FPC306 Estate Planning

Certification
When a student has successfully completed the education requirement, he or she will be eligible to apply for the CFP® Certification Examination. The certification examination is designed to assess the student’s ability to apply his or her financial planning education to individual situations.

Admission Requirements
Minimum requirements for the Financial Planning Certificate program are:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, or;
  • Applicants with a minimum of sixty (60) credits at the undergraduate level may be considered, if there is significant alternative experience that indicates a high degree of probability of success.

Cost
Tuition per course is $575.
Registration for courses guaranteed only upon receipt of payments or employer deferment paperwork.
