School Psychology
(Master of Science or Graduate Certificate of Advanced Study)

The Saint Rose graduate program in school psychology prepares students for careers as certified school psychologists. As a school psychology student, you will be trained to meet the needs of students with a variety of learning, emotional and behavioral problems. An interdisciplinary curriculum integrates courses in school psychology, educational psychology, counseling and special education, and includes practicum and internship experience. The program meets the needs of students with little or no prior experience in education or counseling, as well as current teachers and/or counselors who are seeking certification. Those who already have a master’s degree and want to be certified as school psychologists have the option of earning a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) which requires a minimum of 36 credits, depending on prior experience and course work.

THE SAINT ROSE DIFFERENCE
Our graduate program in school psychology combines a strong interdisciplinary focus with an emphasis on clinical experience. You will learn hands-on counseling and assessment skills through coursework and direct experience that are sequentially integrated. Faculty use the cooperative learning and case study methods of teaching so that students are able to understand immediately how the theoretical approaches being studied can be applied in actual school situations.
