Counseling Internships

School Counseling 2 experiences at 2 levels including Elementary, Middle School or High School. Each 300-hour experience is aimed at developing expertise in the roles and responsibilities of a professional K-12 school counselor.

Requirements

  • Completion of workshop requirements
  • Prerequisites: CSL 500, CSL 528, CSL 540, CSL 530, CSL 553 and at least two courses in School Counseling concentration
  • Permission of advisor, and candidacy as counseling student
  • Attendance at placement meeting the semester prior to the internship
  • Fingerprinting clearance

 


Advanced Study in School Counseling Elementary, Middle School or High School experience decided upon in consultation with advisor. A professional experience aimed at developing expertise in the roles and responsibilities of a professional K-12 school counselor.

Requirements

  • Completion of workshop requirements
  • Prerequisites: CSL 500, CSL 528, CSL 540, CSL 530, CSL 553 and at least two courses in School Counseling concentration
  • Permission of advisor, and candidacy as counseling student
  • Attendance at placement meeting the semester prior to the internship
  • Fingerprinting clearance

 Mental Health Counseling (Community) 2 300-hour professional experiences aimed at developing knowledge of and expertise in the practice of community mental health.

Requirements

  • Completion of workshop requirements
  • A minimum of 24 credits completed including CSL 500, CSL 528, CSL 540, CSL 530, CSL 553 and at least two courses in Community Counseling concentration
  • Permission of advisor, and candidacy as counseling student
  • Attendance at placement meeting the semester prior to the internship
  • Fingerprinting clearance

 Mental Health Counseling (College) 2 300-hour professional experiences aimed at developing knowledge and expertise in college counseling.
Requirements

  • Completion of workshop requirements
  • A minimum of 24 credits completed including CSL 500, CSL 528, CSL 540, CSL 530, CSL 553 and at least two courses in College Student Personnel concentration
  • Permission of advisor, and candidacy as counseling student
  • Attendance at placement meeting the semester prior to the internship
  • Fingerprinting clearance

College Student Services Administration is a professional 300-hour experience aimed at developing knowledge and expertise in student affairs practice.
Requirements

  • Completion of workshop requirements
  • Permission of advisor, and candidacy as CSSA student
  • Attendance at placement meeting the semester prior to the internship.
