School of Arts
and Humanities
The School of Arts and Humanities
at The College of Saint Rose cultivates a learning community which
challenges students to enrich their understanding of and
appreciation for those intellectual and creative forces that shape
the human experience. By studying the diversity of human inquiry and
achievements, students develop the skills, knowledge, perspectives,
and values they need to find meaning, to succeed professionally, and
to participate responsibly in shaping the future of our community.
In order to achieve these goals, the School of Arts and Humanities
offers undergraduate programs in American Studies, Art, Communications,
English, Foreign Languages, History and Political Science, Music,
Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Women's Studies. These programs
represent the core of a liberal education and they are rich in diversity
and interdisciplinary cooperation. Graduate programs strive to advance
the intellectual rigor and sophistication students will bring into
their lives. All Arts and Humanities programs are grounded in the
belief that true learning extends beyond the classroom into the
community; therefore, the School offers opportunities for internships,
service learning, and study abroad, as well as presentations, exhibits,
and performances by faculty, students, and distinguished guest lecturers
and artists.
