What Students Who Have Studied Abroad Say:
"I had the chance to step out of my culture and experience another culture, and I anticipate traveling to many different places to learn more."
— Tonya Tamir '04
"Overall, studying abroad is a learning experience. Sure, you learn ... from your classes, but immersing yourself into the culture is the best tool for learning."
— Sara Dodge ‘05
"What I've learned from my most formative experiences, my academic year in Spain being one of them, is that it is in the stretching of my comfort zones that I grow the most. I wanted to challenge myself to be truly immersed in the culture of Sevilla. I requested to be the only American in the house, I joined a choir in Sevilla, hung out with Spanish friends, and expanded how I viewed the world."
— Matt Smith ‘01
"Studying abroad had a major impact on my life and my values. It influenced me to become a Spanish teacher and encourage appreciation of foreign cultures. The real world experience of living in another culture heightened
my awareness not only of the other culture, but of my own and how the two influence one another."
— Laura Peterson ‘03
"I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to spend time in Spain. Although it was only two weeks, I cannot begin to describe the amount of confidence that I now have when using Spanish. When first arriving in Spain, I was nervous to even order food at a restaurant. By the end of the trip, I was able to walk the streets of Madrid and converse ..."
— Christine Johnson ‘04
"...it has changed my life forever! ... I am more open-minded, interested in world affairs, and more prepared for life after Saint Rose."
— Josefina Digiovanna '02
