History/Political Science
Accelerated Degree Programs
Combined B.A./M.A. in
History and Political Science
This is an intensive, rigorous program available only to students
with outstanding high school academic records. Students eligible for
the BA/MA should be energetic, enthusiastic students who are willing
to work hard. They should approximate the following academic profile:
a high school grade point average of 94, combined SAT scores of 1200,
top ten percent of graduating class, and a strong recommendation from
a history or social studies teacher.
This program's benefits are legion. It provides academically talented
students an exciting intellectual challenge, but it also offers
many practical advantages, not least of which are financial. The
BA/MA program allows students to complete both undergraduate and
graduate degrees within four years and charges overload credits
at the graduate school rate, a substantial savings. However, it
also requires that students take about six courses each semester,
including two graduate courses, instead of the customary five undergraduate
classes. This is an extraordinarily heavy workload, but one which
eligible students will shoulder with grace and determination.

3+3 Dual Degree Program in Law
In conjunction with Albany Law School, The College of Saint Rose
offers a special program, which facilitates the completion of both
an undergraduate degree and the J.D. degree within a six-year period.
Students admitted to the program must maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete
all their undergraduate major and liberal arts distribution requirements
in the first three years of study, after which they are admitted
to Albany Law, irrespective of their score on the LSAT. Courses
completed during the first year of Law School will satisfy the remaining
credits required in the undergraduate degree.
This program is open to selected students earning an undergraduate
degree in the following majors: American Studies; English; History;
History/Political Science; Interdepartmental Studies; Mathematics;
Public Communications; Religious Studies; Sociology; and Spanish.
Eligibility requirements are similar to those for the BA/MA degree
described above and Albany Law School ultimately makes all admissions
decisions.

Admissions if you plan to pursue this dual degree program.
