Accelerated B.A./M.A. Program in English

The accelerated program allows exceptionally fine students to complete both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English in four years. The admission standards for this program are high:

  • Minimum of 600 on SAT verbal; 1200 combined SATs.
  • Minimum of 90 overall h.s. average; 95 in English

Students who meet these admissions requirements and are accepted into the English program by the English Graduate Program Coordinator, complete 138 credits, including 102 undergraduate credits and 36 graduate credits. These credits must include all the undergraduate and graduate English major requirements and the undergraduate liberal education requirements. Students ordinarily take 17 or 18 credits per semester and often need at least one or two summer courses (often graduate courses toward the end of their study) to complete both degrees in four years.

138 total credits are needed to complete the accelerated degree.
