Clubs & Organizations

The "Saint Rose Difference" extends far beyond the reaches of a classroom or textbook. It exists fluidly, in every facet of campus life. As a member of the Saint Rose community, you will be challenged to learn, to discover, and to think outside the box and outside the classroom. The School of Arts & Humanities is committed to this, and welcomes students of all majors to explore the many related Clubs & Organizations available.

Sigma Tau Delta

The Beta Phi chapter of the International English Honor Society. The purpose of the society is to recognize the accomplishments of undergraduates, graduates, and scholars in the academy and professional writers who have distinguished themselves in the study and creation of literature and linguistics in the English language.

Upsilon Iota

Chapter of the Lambda Pi Eta National Honor Society of the National Communication Association.

English Club
This club was established to foster an appreciation for literature in the college community by providing and opportunity for students to read, write and listen to literary works. This club also provides its members with opportunities to make contacts within the literary world. This club is open to any students interested in literature.

International Association for Jazz Educators (IAJE)
This club was founded in order to increase the effectiveness of music education members. This club gathers students together who are interested in jazz and wish to explore the different aspects of if including education, performance and history. IAJE sponsors concerts and clinics to further educate themselves in the area of jazz music.

Music & Entertainment Industry Student Association (MEISA)
This club was established to increase awareness and education of the music and entertainment industries via activities and events such as speakers, conferences, and newsletters. This organization also sponsors many concerts on campus, and provides members with valuable opportunities to make contacts with professionals in the music industry.

Music Educators National Conference (MENC)
This is an organization open to all College of Saint Rose Students, but is primarily designed for music majors. The primary goal of this organization is to foster student involvement through conferences, clinics, and workshops. This national organization is a stepping stone for students to become involved n activities within music education and provides members with valuable opportunities to make contacts with professionals in music education.


New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA)
This organization was established to foster greater insight and perspective about the teaching of art and contemporary concepts in art education. The primary goals of this organization are to raise and maintain a high standard of quality art education on campus and in the community, to sponsor service projects such as exhibitions, fiend trips, speakers, etc., as they pertain to the profession of teaching art, and to enlist future teachers from high school, promoting as a career both in art education and other areas of art.

The Other Guys
The Other Guys started in the fall of 2000. The Other Guys perform regularly throughout the year; from Doo-Wop to U2. The Other Guys create their own musical twist on popular music all without the aid of instruments.

Golden Knights Dance Club
The GKDC is a club that allows the campus community to be involved in choreographing, practicing, and performing different dance routines. This also allows students who are interesting in dancing to unwind from their stressful academics and meet new friends.

Active Christian Togetherness (ACT)
The purpose of ACT is to provide encouragement and support for one another as the club seeks the will of Jesus Christ through Bible study, worship, fellowship, and outreach on our campus and in our daily lives. All religious affiliations are welcome.

Students Leave a Message (SLAM)
SLAM offers the opportunity for students to workshop poetry and present it to an audience. They meet weekly to critique and get peer evaluation of their writings to prefect them for presentation.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ (BASIC)
Basic is a Christian Fellowship group. They are affiliated with BASIC International, and their focus is primarily on Christianity and living life as Christians. Bible discussion and prayer are a regular part of meetings, and all people are welcome to come and discuss issues and be a part of this group.

The Young Dems
The purpose of this organization is to make known and promote the principles of the Democrat party; to recruit students from the college and enroll them in the Democratic Party.

The Republican Club
The main goal of this goal of this club is to promote and make known the principles of the Republican Party among the students here as well as recruiting students as members of the club and as member of the Republican Party. They work closely and campaign for local Republican politicians.

The Girls Next Door
This group is a collaboration of different female voices that perform without the aid of musical instruments. The Girls Next Door is a newly formed group that is working toward holding events and shows that display their talents.

Music Ministry
This group leads and performs musical selections throughout the school year at weekly and special liturgical celebrations in the campus chapel. Music Ministry serves as a spiritual connector in the Saint Rose community and recruits people who want to sing and who may or may not be music majors.

The Chronicle
The Chronicle is the student newspaper of The College of Saint Rose. It contains many articles regarding events and issues on campus as well as in the surrounding community. The Chronicle is distributed every week on Wednesday. Any student may become part of The Chronicle staff or may just submit articles for publication. The Chronicle is an important resource on campus because it acts as a communication tool around campus to students, faculty, staff and administration.

Reflections Yearbook
Reflections is the yearbook of The College of Saint Rose. It is distributed once a year. It is a hard cover book aimed towards portraying the image of the College by containing college events and activities. Any students willing to work on the yearbook are welcome to assist.

The Sphere
The Sphere is the literary publication of The College of Saint Rose. It features articles, poetry, short stories, and some artwork of students in the college community. It is published once a semester and is available to the entire campus. Any student may assist in the development of The Sphere through its publication staff, or may contribute work to The Sphere.
