SAINT ROSE MAINTAINS CFP BOARD-REGISTERED PROGRAM STATUS FOR PROGRAMS IN FINANCIAL PLANNING

ALBANY (January 6, 2016) — The Huether School of Business at The College of Saint Rose has maintained registration with Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. (CFP Board) to provide a bachelor’s degree and a certificate of advanced study in financial planning.

An independent certifying organization, CFP Board owns the CFP® and Certified Financial Planner(TM) certification marks, which it awards to individuals who meet its education, examination, experience, ethics and other requirements. Students completing the financial planning program at Saint Rose will have met the education requirement for the CFP® Certification Examination administered by CFP Board.

In addition, Financial Planning magazine recently named Saint Rose to its list of 60 leading schools for financial planning nationwide. Saint Rose is the only Capital Region institution to make the list and one of just 13 in the Northeast, placing the College’s program in the same company as Bentley University, Boston University and New York University.

“CFP Board is pleased to have an educational institution of the caliber of the Huether School of Business offering a CFP Board-Registered Program,” said Richard P. Rojeck, CFP®, chair of CFP Board’s board of directors. “As student interest in financial planning as a career continues to grow, we anticipate that the Huether School’s program will contribute significantly to the number of qualified candidates seeking to attain the CFP® certification, the standard of excellence for competent and ethical financial planning.”

“I am very pleased that we are able to offer financial planning programs of such high quality. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, thousands of jobs in financial planning will be available throughout the United States. This is an exceptional, exciting career that offers flexibility and opportunities for advancement,” said Dr. Suzanne Wilhelm, dean of the Huether School of Business at Saint Rose.

The undergraduate program at Saint Rose covers the gamut of topics required by CFP Board, including financial planning, education planning, tax planning, risk management and insurance planning, retirement planning, investment planning and estate planning. Students in financial planning have the opportunity to pursue internships at numerous distinguished national financial firms. The graduate certificate prepares students to further their careers in financial services organizations, including banks, credit unions, insurance companies, investment firms, accounting firms or in private practice.
