“Graphic Design USA,” Leading Industry Publication, Gives Saint Rose “Highest Honor”

Saint Rose graphic design program named one of tops in the nation.

ALBANY (September 30, 2015) — The graphic design program at The College of Saint Rose has been named one of the best in the nation by a leading industry publication.

Graphic Design USA has placed Saint Rose on its 2015 list of Top Design Schools. Saint Rose is one of 35 institutions to receive the magazine’s “highest honor,” placing the College among some of the nation’s elite institutions. According to the publication, considered a go-to source of information for graphic design professionals, art and design education is ever more important as “lines blur between the studio and the classroom, the office and the classroom.”

“Our program at The College of Saint Rose is able to reach such high standards because of the outstanding art faculty, small classroom size, a nurturing yet rigorous curriculum and an interest in helping students succeed beyond their experience at the College,” said Jessica Loy, professor of graphic design.

“We are particularly proud that our devoted alumni, who, themselves, have become graphic design leaders in the United States and beyond, enhance our students’ success by hiring new graduates. One of the hallmarks of the graphic design program is that faculty and alumni together are dedicated to helping graduates find their place in the design world,” said Saint Rose President Dr. Carolyn J. Stefanco.

The Saint Rose Center for Art and Design encourages freedom of expression and challenges students to reach their fullest potential. Saint Rose art students study not only with professional designers, but also outstanding fine artists including photographers, painters, sculptors and printmakers. Students are schooled in the classical principles of drawing and painting and in the cutting-edge possibilities presented by the newest digital tools. They go on to distinguish themselves in top design firms, working in the field creating high-profile advertising, high-traffic websites, eye-catching packaging, fashion, film animation and more.

The Saint Rose bachelor of fine arts and bachelor of science programs are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.

For more than 50 years, Graphic Design USA has been a business-to-business information source for graphic design professionals. Its magazine reaches more than 50,000 subscribers worldwide and holds several national design competitions that culminate in annuals showcasing the best in graphic design, in-house design, web design, package design, healthcare design and digital design.
